Bookkeeping, Sales and Reporting (in-person, Port Townsend)

Keeping your books as a farm and/or food business is critical for success. Come learn in person with local experts how to track sales and use Quickbooks to track your business’ income and expenses, run reports, invoices, and more. Using Quickbooks is not a pre-requisite for this class, come and learn!


Tax Season Class (in-person, Port Hadlock)

Broadband Community Meetings

During the Clallam County Community Broadband Meetings in October 2020, community members talked with experts in the broadband and telecommunications field and discussed the future of broadband service in Clallam County. Meeting facilitators answered questions and welcomed comments from participants. The discussions centered on a wide range of topics such as current and future service needs (service expansion, higher speed data communications, more portable and mobile communications, provision of residential and business services and applications, etc.) and infrastructure availability concerns (expansion of fiber optics and wireless systems, availability of new networks, extension of existing networks, network interconnections, etc.). Presentation: A panel on the topic, “Creative Solutions to Housing Challenges in Clallam & Jefferson Counties.” The panelists below will share some of the projects and progress they are pursuing to address our regional housing issues. 

 


Presenter: Suzy Ames, President of Peninsula College, will provide an update on the new instructional workforce programs that started in the 2023-24 school year and give a preview about programs in the works. She will also describe new efforts to support students who face challenges outside the classroom.


Presenter: Stephanie Lachman, Business Lender, VP based in Seattle will update the NODC on Craft3’s work for those who are not familiar, share the focus areas they have identified in their 2023 – 2027 strategic plan, and speak about recent success stories. View a PDF of the presentation here.


Presenter: Aaron Whittemore from WSU’s Center for Sustaining Agriculture and Natural Resources, discussing anaerobic digestion and organic waste management challenges and opportunities on the Olympic Peninsula. The anaerobic digestion process produces biogases that can be used to generate renewable energy. It could have a number of applications in our area, including on farms and by solid waste districts.


Speakers: Helen Price Johnson, USDA State Director, and Timothy O’Connell, USDA Deputy Director for Washington State gave a presentation about some of the many funding programs that USDA has available to serve our area. A PDF of the presentation can be seen here.


Topic: Siobhan Canty, CEO of the Jefferson Community Foundation and 2021 Woman of the Year, will speak on the Housing Solutions Network.


Topic: Jennifer Plowden from The Trust for Public Land will present a study of the economic impact of conserved land, trails and parks on the North Olympic Peninsula. The report was commissioned by North Olympic Land Trust and Jefferson Land Trust.
